Mentally Fit: Bringing the sports mindset to the business world

Irish hockey player Shane O’Donoghue launches Mentally Fit services in Ireland to energise human performance and improve mental fitness in business

Mental fitness is central to performance – in and out of sport. So much of our potential can only be achieved if our mindset is right, and we have the power to improve and train our mindset.

Mentally Fit, who provides individuals and companies with coaching, has today launched its services in Ireland. The Mentally Fit model applies the science and psychology behind sports training and performance to everyday life. Mentally Fit has a network of elite athletes that translate the mindset and habits of what it takes to be the best into practical steps and advice to improve life and business by optimising energy for human performance.

There has never been a more important time to work on our mental energy, as Ireland approaches month six of working from home. COVID-19 has affected much more than the nation's physical health as people find themselves worried, anxious, under strain, financially impacted and in many cases isolated and alone. The Mentally Fit programme energises human performance on three levels: energising individuals, energising teams and energising organisations.

Hockey player Shane O’Donoghue is one of Mentally Fit Ireland’s elite athlete coaches. Shane is an Olympian and Ireland’s all-time leading goalscorer. Through his career he has had many reasons to celebrate but has also come up against setbacks, disappointments and failures. These moments are when mental strength, preparation and tools have been key to turning things around, and this is what led Shane to a career in personal development and coaching off the field in a corporate setting.

It's amazing to bring Mentally Fit to Ireland. There is a great understanding and appreciation in the value of human performance coaching here in Ireland. Especially through these testing times, we all need some level of support and guidance to help build resilience, manage our energy and perform to the best of our abilities. Taking the learning's from my elite sporting career and combining that with my background in psychology along with the coaching DNA of Mentally Fit, I believe I am fully equipped to deliver high impact and measurable results for individuals, teams and organisations in Ireland.

One business that Mentally Fit Ireland has worked with is Chupi, one of Ireland’s best known jewellery brands. Chupi jewellery does not just make jewellery they create heirlooms and memories that people will treasure forever. For all their customers, that moment when they are choosing a piece is magical, it’s not just a transaction. It’s Chupi’s team that creates that magic – from their makers, designers, creators and their team online and in store – they help make people's special moments even more special.

Chupi worked with Mentally Fit over a period of four weeks online, with one workshop a week developing our Chupi Wellness Strategy.

The workshops were prepared for us specifically based on our needs and the topics we covered were Home Environment, Physical Wellness, Mental Wellness and Remote Culture. A pandemic couldn't even dampen Shane's passion and enthusiasm, as he provided our company with support when we needed it most.

Shane and Graham were professional, prepared and passionate and we would highly recommend working with Mentally Fit Ireland! - JoAnn Baynes, CHUPI.
